FIR Registration against Wife for Pushing Husband to Suicide.
For two years, a grieving family searched for the simple dignity of being heard. After the death by suicide of the brother of Karn in December of 2023, their efforts to have a First Information Report registered met repeated obstacles. Rishi Trivedi took his own life due to unbearable harassment by his wife, Shikha Awasthi. What should have been the beginning of a fair investigation became a prolonged struggle for recognition, accountability, and hope.
With the support of Ekam Nyay Foundation, Advocate Abhishek Jain took up the case pro bono. Through patient follow-up and determined legal action, the matter reached the court. The court’s order has now led to the registration of an FIR—an important first step toward due process and a full examination of the circumstances surrounding the death.

This outcome is more than a procedural milestone. It affirms that families seeking answers deserve access to the justice system, irrespective of gender. It also shows the difference committed legal support can make when individuals feel powerless before institutional delays.
For Karn’s family, the FIR restores a measure of faith after two difficult years. For Ekam Nyay Foundation, it strengthens a continuing commitment: standing beside people in their hardest moments and ensuring that no family’s call for justice is left unheard. It is a reminder that persistence, compassion, and skilled advocacy can open paths forward for families.
